GoldBox Operation: MERGE-PURGE 

 

MERGE-PURGE for GoldMine began in GoldBox, and it set the standard for this sophisticated database operation. 

 

The best way to prevent duplicate Main Contacts is to stop them cold at the point of entry - such as with GoldBox's Import / Update. However - when you have dupes in your system - this is the ideal method to get them out.  Feature-rich, failsafe - and the originator of GoldMine dupe management. 

 

 

 

Previewing is a key for dupe detection, and the COUNT Mode delivers.  You'll be able to analyze identified dupes before any changes are made to your GoldMine data. That's critical - because a Merge-Purge can only be backed out with a restore from backup. 

 

Most Merge-Purges are run in automated, non-prompted BATCH Mode.  If you have only a few dupes, you can examine them one at a time in MANUAL Mode.  GoldBox interlaces the dupes for easy analysis and field swapping. 

 

Because BATCH Mode is automated, GoldBox provides audit and control features to make it as failsafe as possible.  Each Main Contact field can be coded with one of 5 Backfill options.  Field differences can be written to History.  And, an Additional Contact of the *Deleted* record is ALWAYS created, with an option to track the original field values of the entire deleted Main Contact.
